Frye Funeral Home was first started by Guy Chambless as a family owned and operated funeral home back in 1957.

He and his wife Ruth Chambless ran it as the Guy Chambless Funeral Home. Mr. Guy became ill and passed away, leaving his wife and children to continue with the business.

In 1994, his daughter Allison Chambless Carter, became sole owner. During this time the name was Chambless Funeral Home, Inc.,

In July of 2000 she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, at which time long time employee Ernest Frye took over managing the funeral home, in October of 2000, Allison lost her battle with cancer.

Ernest and his wife Virginia Highsmith Frye, purchased the funeral home from the estate at the request of Allison. And continue as a family owned and operated funeral home.

In 2003 Frye was added to the name, thus becoming, Chambless-Frye Funeral Home.

In the fall of 2006 renovation was started on the west side of the building by replacing old windows with new ones, a new cement handicap ramp was added and the building had vinyl siding added to that side.

Then in the winter of 2007, the complete renovation of the old building was started with the construction of our new Chapel ( 200 seat capacity), casket display room, new bathrooms (Handicap accessible), new prep-room and 2 new offices. Overall with a carport and porches approx. 5000 sq. ft. were added to the older building.

Chambless-Frye Funeral Home will once again undergo a name change. We have prayed on this, and feel it is time to move on as, Frye Funeral Home.

When we first spoke with Allison on buying the Funeral Home, her request was to, " Keep the Chambless name on as long as reasonable." We feel we have done this with much respect to her, and all the Chambless Family, who provided a very caring and loving service to this Community, their shoes will be hard to walk in, but with the good Lord's guidance, we pray we can always be there to serve all Families needs as the Chambless Family had always done in the past.
