Hoboken – Vernon Gregory Collins, Jr., 68, of Hoboken passed away Wednesday afternoon (September 15, 2021) at his residence.
Born in New Port, VA is parents were Vernon Gregory Collins, Sr. and Bernice Horton Collins. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Joel Collins.
Vernon worked for Kinco before becoming disabled. He attended Springhill Missionary Baptist Church and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Vernon loved any thing that was FORD, working on cars, watching YouTube and playing the guitar. He had a very giving heart and never met a stranger and would talk to anyone.
Survivors include his son, Vernon Gregory Collins, III of Hoboken; a daughter, Jennifer Denise Collins White of Hoboken; 2 step daughters, Daisy Cook (David) of Llustee, FL and Rose Hutcheson of Jacksonville, FL; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; mother of his children, Bonnie Collins of Hoboken; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn Collins (Monica) of NC, Jeff Collins (Thersea) of VA and John Collins of Green Coves Spring, FL; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy Langway (Allen) of Mass. And Shelia Buchan (Jerry) of VA; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning (September 18, 2021) at 11am at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Hickox officiating.
