Thelma 'Fay' Rowe

Hortense – Thelma “Fay” Barfield Rowe, 76, of Hortense passed away Tuesday evening (February 16, 2021) at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA her parents were John Fredrick Barfield and Nancy Thelma Wildes Barfield. She is also preceded in death by 4 brothers, John Barfield, Lott Barfield, Gene Barfield and Slater Barfield.

Fay was a retired office manager for the Methodist Council on Ministry and a member of King Memorial Baptist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and was her husband's “Earth Angel” who loved her children, grandchildren and her family. Fay enjoyed working with Robert in her rose garden and the vegetable garden, cooking for and taking care of her family, spoiling her husband, Robert, and fishing. She also loved her church and listening and reading God’s word.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Rowe of Hortense; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Russell & Karen Sherman of Hortense and Brian & Melanie Sherman of Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Sue & Jeff Barker of Greenville, NC; 8 grandchildren, Daniel Blake Sherman, Dylan Sherman, Peyton Sherman, Trenton Sherman, Natalie Hastings, Haleigh Barker, Michaela Barker and Sierra Barker; 4 great grandchildren and one on the way; her sister and brother-in-law, Murlene & Jerry Walker of Brunswick; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday morning (February 27, 2021) at 11am at King Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Rowell and Rev. Keith Brown officiating.
