Nahunta – Terry Junior “Bimbo” Harris, 70, of Nahunta passed away Tuesday afternoon (November 19, 2024) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Hoboken, GA his parents were Barney Harris and Mildred Griffin Landrum. He is also preceded in death by a brother, J.C. Harris; a sister, Shirley Groover; 3 nephews, Barney Harris, Tracy Harris and Travis Harris; a cousin, Dewey Harris; and his father-in-law, Pic Smith.
Bimbo was a heavy equipment operator for IUOE Local 474 and was a believer of the Baptist faith. He was a great caregiver who loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids, visiting the nursing home and would do without to help other people. Bimbo enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, sharing vegetables, working and just being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Tamara Smith Harris of Nahunta; a son and daughter-in-law, Austin Harris (Brittany) of Nahunta; a daughter and son-in-law, Ashleigh McIntosh (Jimmy) of Alma; 4 grandchildren, Tristin Harris, Kade Graham, Braylin Harris and Addie McIntosh; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Harris (Sandra) of Hoboken; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen Ledford (Harvey) of Murfreesboro, TN; his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Smith of Nahunta; an uncle, Coleman Griffin; special cousin, Edna Mae Harris; a brother-in-law, John Smith (Cheryl) of Hickox; 3 sisters-in-law, Tara Dixon (Tim) of Blackshear, Tracy Macauley (Bill) of Nahunta and Ambia Kicklighter of Waycross; and also several other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening (November 21, 2024) from 6pm – 8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Friday morning (November 22, 2024) at 11am at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ray McMillan, Bro. David Jacobs and Bro. John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Hall, Emory Crews, Raymond Wildes, Korey White, Tony Lucas and Billy Ray Harris.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
