Steven Craig Bennett, Sr.

Hortense – Steven Craig Bennett, Sr., 58, of Hortense passed away Friday morning (June 19, 2020) at his residence after a brief illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA his parents were Jack Willis Bennett and Mary Shepard Bennett. He is also preceded in death by a son, James Crosby Bennett.

Steven was a HVAC Technician and loved hunting, fishing, grilling, tinkering with things, playing the guitar and drinking a cold beer.

Survivors include his wife Starr Bennett of Hortense; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Bennett (Kearstin) of Brunswick and Craig Bennett of Hortense; a daughter, January Crosby of Townsend; 2 grandchildren, Hannah Williams and Gannon Williams; a brother, Buster Bennett of Atlanta; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna Short (Nathan) of Texas; 2 nephews, Corey Booth and Jamie Booth of Jesup; and also several other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the Family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A graveside service will be held Monday morning (June 22, 2020) at 11am at Bennett Cemetery (644 Jones Rd Hortense GA 31543) with Rev. Chad Middleton officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Coochie Miller, Polebean Greene, Greg Stone and Kenneth Roberts.
