Hickox – Shirley Ann Crews Herrin, 63, of Hickox passed away Wednesday morning (March 24, 2021) at her residence after an extended illness.
Born in Folkston, GA her parents were Archie Crews and Florrie Altimira Johns Crews. She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Larry Herrin; and a brother Jerry Crews.
Shirley was a retired registered nurse and a member of Hickox Baptist Church. She loved all her family including her church family, loved life and all people. Shirley also loved her phone calls with her brothers, spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, dog hunting, going to the mountains, watching the Georgia Bulldogs and loved her dog, Jamesy.
Survivors include her 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy Herrin of Jesup and Jerold Herrin (Danese) of Nahunta; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Ronda Herrin Williams (Ryan) of Waynesville, Buffy Herrin of Blackshear, Terry Herrin of Hickox and Sherry Blanton (Jerome) of Brunswick; 15 grandchildren, Sierra Ingram Clay (Gavin), Bailley Herrin, Kelsey Ingram, Gage Prescott, Elizabeth Anderson, Danzlee Herrin, Michael Anderson, II, Michael Long (Lenzie Heath), Jonathan Holmes, Remi Herrin, Maddalyn Herrin, Wyatt Herrin, Logan Hand, Shelby Blanton, David Blanton and one on the way, Shirley Jean Herrin; 3 great grand children, Ryleigh Leanne Heath, Horace “Ace” Spires and Luke Spires; 2 brothers & a sister-in-law, Eugene Crews and Johnnie Crews(Patricia) both of Hickox; brother-in-law, Ronnie Herrin (Valene) of Woodstock; 3 sisters-in-law, Wanda O’Quinn (Charles), Karen Crews of Al and Faye Herrin of Woodstock; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask, are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (March 28, 2021) at 3pm at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. Cliff Adams officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 2pm at Frye Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gage Prescott, David Blanton, Jerome Blanton, Jeremy Crews, Michael Long, Jonathan Holmes, David Crummey, Gavin Clay and Roy Crummey. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Lee, Bessie Cohen, Barbara Mayfield and Irene Roundtree.
