Sarah Johns Cook

Nahunta – Sarah A. Johns Cook, 85, of Nahunta passed away Wednesday morning (April 24, 2019) at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Winokur, GA her parents were Gordon Johns, Sr. and Ruth Arnold Johns. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Mac Cook, Sr.; a son, Bobby Mac Cook, Jr.; a brother, Gordon Johns, Jr.; and a sister, Gertrude Hodges.

Sarah was a manufacturer at Nobles Cap Factory and a member of Darien Church of God. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, working with flowers, and going to the mountains.

Survivors include 2 sons and their spouses, Rev. Tommy Whaley (Patricia) of Darien and Ricky Cook (Kathy) of Nahunta; 3 daughters & their spouses, Pam Alford (John) of White Oak, Cheryl Cook (Morgan McIntosh) of Nahunta, and Heather Crews (Dillon) of Hoboken; a daughter-in-law, Pam Lyons Cook; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Herman Johns (Bonnie) of Middleburg, FL; a sister, Tavares Tatum of Hoboken; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening (April 25, 2019) from 6PM -8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Friday morning (April 26, 2019) at 11AM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating.

Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Whaley, Tyler Chambless, Derrek Chambless, Richard Cook, Jr., Brandon Cook, and David Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Darien Church of God.

Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the Funeral Home by 10:30AM Friday.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
