Hortense-Ms. Rose Marie Brooks Middleton, 67, of Hortense, passed away Tuesday evening (August 4, 2020) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in Waycross, GA her parents was the late Vincent “Shorty” Brooks and Vonice Brooks. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Jane Middleton.
Rose was a U.S. Mail carrier and a member of the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy. She loved spending time with grandchildren and loved watching movies.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Middleton; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia M. Chesser (Steven) and Elizabeth M. Anderson (Layton) both of Hortense; her mother, Vonice Brooks of Hortense; 4 grandchildren, Garrison & Lily Chesser, and Emma & Brooks Anderson; 2 brothers and sister-in-law, Gary Brooks of Hortense, Vinny Brooks (Karen) of Augusta. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Due to the COVID-19, the family would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the Family would like to know they understand and covet your prayers.
A graveside service will be held Saturday morning (August 8, 2020) at 11AM at the Hortense Cemetery with Bishop Raymond Willis and Bishop Rob Hutto officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Willie Johns, Charles Lewis, Bruce Gibson, Butch Gibson, Ross Flowers, Randy Davidson, Eddie Alligood, and Jimmy Anderson.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
