Robert (Bobby) Dallon Sloan, 83, of Hortense, Georgia walked peacefully through the gates of Heaven at 5:50 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born in Brantley County, GA, Robert was the son of the late William Arthur Sloan and Mary Lynn Adams Sloan. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from GA Pacific with 37 years of service. After retiring from GA Pacific, Robert worked as a driver for Sea Island Company.
Robert was a long-time minister and member of the Hortense(formerly Sloan Hill) Church of God of Prophecy. He loved the Lord, his family, his church family, and people. He believed that it was important to make people feel special and to share the good news of salvation.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, William Arthur Sloan, his mother, Mary Lynn Adams Sloan, three sisters, Ocie Flowers, Onie Flowers, and Florence Blaylock, and five brothers, William Slyvester (Vet) Sloan, Eugene Sloan, Burt Sloan, Allen Sloan, and Herman Sloan.
Survivors include his “bride” of nearly 61 years, Iris Proctor Sloan; daughters Karen (Brad) Williams of Brunswick, GA; Audry (Kelvin) Thornton of Hoboken, GA; and Tannis (Eddie) Alligood of Hortense, GA; grandchildren, Rebekah (Alejandro) Pittman of Blackshear, GA; Anna Williams of Evans, GA; Tyler Thornton and Sloan Thornton of Hoboken, GA; and Nick Alligood, Madelyn Alligood, and Bryson Alligood of Hortense, GA. Robert is also survived by a sister, Zubie Wolverton of North Carolina and a brother, Herschel Sloan of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 16 at 10:00 AM with funeral services following at 11:00 AM at the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy, 6756 Highway 32 East, Hortense, GA 31543. Intermentwill be at the Hortense Cemetery. Pallbearers are Brad Williams, Kelvin Thornton, Eddie Alligood, Tyler Thornton, Nick Alligood, and Bryson Alligood.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
