Robert Charles Barksdale

Nahunta – Robert Charles Barksdale, 55 of Nahunta passed away Saturday night (January 20, 2018) at Southeast Ga. Health Systems in Brunswick after an extended illness.

Born in Fort Bragg, NC his parents are Barbara Ann Riggins Roberts and the late Ralph D. Barksdale. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Louise Riggins and Mae Adkisson.

Robert was employed by Brantley Co. maintenance department as a mechanic. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a member and a founding member of the Shanty Ridge Hunting Club. He also loved being around people and large crowds and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Barksdale of Nahunta; a son, Jarrett Barksdale (Deeana Johnson) of Nahunta; a step-son, Michael Hovotat of Jacksonville, FL.; a daughter, Cassie Harrison of Nahunta; 5 grandchildren; his mother, Barbara Ann Roberts of Midway, Ga. 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Gary Barksdale (Tammy) and Jeff Barksdale both of Nahunta; a sister and a brother-in-law, Linda Byerly (Chuck) of Woodbine; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (January 24, 2018) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday morning (January 25, 2018) at 11AM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Trey Keene officiating.

Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David McKenzie, Wesley Liles, Ryan Gibbs, Revis Chesser, Jr., Darrell Sapp, and Gary Altman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Revis Chesser, Sr. and Shanty Ridge Hunting Club.

Pallbearers are asked to be at the funeral home Thursday morning by 10:30am.

The family will be receiving friends at Gary Barksdale’s residence 19150 Raybon Rd E. Nahunta GA 31553.
