Rev. Lester C. Allen

Rev. Lester Carl "L.C." Allen, 80, of Nahunta, GA died Friday afternoon (November 21, 2008) at his residence after an extended illness. Born in Bachlott, GA, his parents were General Leon and Lovie Virginia Crews Allen. He is also preceded in death by two sons, Michael David Allen and Larry James Allen, Sr.; one grandson, Joseph Michael Davis; one great grandson, Joseph Michael Davis, Jr.; five brothers, Willis Wingard, Carlos Allen, W.F. Allen, Paul Allen, and James Allen; and two sisters, Martha Johns and Mary O'Quinn. L.C. was a pastor for 29 years at Youngs Island Church of God in Eulonia, GA and founder of many churches. He also was very musically talented and could play by ear, loved singing and picking a guitar. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Aline Allen of Nahunta; four children, Diane Griffin (husband Jody), Charles Allen (wife Cheryl), Elizabeth Crews (husband Lamar) and Dora Lee Allen Knox (husband Gary) all of Nahunta, GA; 15 grandchildren, Chuck Allen (wife Jennifer), Michelle Pickren (husband Keith) both of Nahunta, Melinda Wainright (husband Ben) of Folkston, Sherry Rebollo (husband Ausencio), Jeff Griffin, Carl Griffin (wife April) all of Nahunta, Stephanie Dunsmore (husband Michael) of Hoboken, Samantha Sears (Donald) of Dixie Union, Chris Allen (wife Sarah) of Nahunta, Dustin Allen (wife Becky) of Hortense, Kimberly Flowers (husband Michael), Misty Johns, David White (wife Maura), Jarrett Knox and Garrin Knox all of Nahunta; 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Lula Johns of Nahunta; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6 until at Chambless-Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2pm at Bachlott Church of God with Rev. Jody Griffin, Rev. Chuck Allen, Rev. Jason Marden, Rev. Buddy Allen and Rev. Ion Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery. Active pallbearer will be Chris Allen, Dustin Allen, David White, Jeff Griffin, Carl Griffin, and Ausencio Rebollo. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnnie Crews, Bonnie Flowers Conner, Tommy Chesser, Charles Waldron, Ronald Kelly, Kenny Jones, Michael Mercier, and Hilton Morgan.
