Redick Aaron Thornton, Iii

Redick Aaron Thornton, III, of Hephzibah, GA., passed away Monday (March 21, 2022) at Augusta University Medical Center.
Born in Waycross, GA his parents were the late Redick Aaron Thornton II, and Rosalyn Shirlene Jacobs Thornton, of Waynesville. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandi Elizabeth Thornton; his sister, Sinda Thornton Salazar; and his brother, Robert Thornton.
Redick served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked many years as a Truck Driver and was a member of Waynesville Church of God. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his three sons and daughters-in-law, Redick Aaron Thornton, IIII (Martha), of Alabama, Robbie LeRoy Thornton (Jennifer), of Forsyth, Stephen Michael Thornton (Rita), of Hephzibah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon Carmelita Newman (Steven), of Blackshear and Katrina Nicole Thornton (David), of McIntosh; 16 grandchildren, Da’sha Dean, Kailey Pierce, Lance Rowland, Trevor Jones, Justin Thornton, Jonathan Thornton, Aaron Kyler Thornton, Ansley Criswell, Robert Owen Thornton, Emily Thornton, Stephenie Michel Thornton, Stephen Michael Thornton, II, Christopher Meders, Jr., Damien Dacres, Ashley Meders, and Alexis Morgan; 8 great grandchildren, Aria Jones, Jace Jones, Macee Jill Thornton, Ryder, Coen, and Kyler Pierce, Justin and Savannah Dean; his mother, Rosalyn Shirlene Thornton, of Waynesville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joey Thornton (Melinda), of Waynesville, Allen Thornton (Shannon), of Waynesville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose Thornton, of Waynesville and Susan Corwin (Clay), of Brunswick. Also several nieces, nephews other relatives, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening (March 24, 2022) from 6 PM-8 PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning (March 25, 2022) at 10 AM at Waynesville Church of God with Rev. Freddie Newman and Rev. Clayton Edgy officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Thornton, Justin Thornton, Kyler Thornton, Owen Thornton, Brandon Thornton, Redick Aaron Thornton, IIII, Robbie Thornton, and Stephen Thornton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Rowland and Trevor Jones.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
