Atkinson- Raymond Lee Ammons, 48 of Atkinson, passed away Sunday (April 25, 2021) at his residence.
Born in Tampa, FL., his parents are John Gibson and Peggy Ammons Gibson, of Waynesville. He is also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond Linker "R.L." Ammons and Golda Pearl "Nookie" Ammons.
Raymond enjoyed racing, fishing, hunting, and golfing. He worked many years as a Carpenter and was a Jack of All Trades and was loved by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Ammons; 2 sons, Tyler Ammons and Brett Ammons, all of Atkinson; his parents, John and Peggy Gibson, of Waynesville; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Ammons (Leighanne), of Waynesville, Shannon Gibson (Wendy), of Waverly, Don Gibson (Tiffany), of Waycross, and Ben Gibson (Sam), of Hortense; 2 sisters, Leslie Herrin, of Brunswick and Kristen McLeod, of Waynesville; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Daniel and Vicki Underwood, of Atkinson. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
The family will be receiving friends at Mrs. Peggy Gibson's residence on Wednesday (April 28, 2021) from 6-8PM; 7669 Browntown Rd. Waynesville, GA 31566.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday (April 30, 2021) at 1PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Emory Wilson officiating.
Due to COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing, also face mask are highly recommended at the service. Anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the service the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
