Ralph Edward Rooks, Sr.

March 20, 1957 — March 5, 2019

Hortense- Ralph Edward Rooks, Sr., 61, of Hortense, passed away Tuesday (March 5, 2019) at Memorial Health University, in Savannah, following a brief illness.

Born in Waynesville, GA., his parents were Joseph Franklin Rooks and Catherine Juanita Anderson Rooks. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene Rooks, Daniel F. Rooks, Mark D. Rooks, and Allen J. Rooks.

Ralph worked many years as a Supervisor for Roads and Grounds on Jekyll Island. He loved his animals and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rooks, of Hortense; two sons Shade Rooks, of Nahunta, and Ralph Rooks, Jr., of Hortense; 4 grandchildren, Cheyanne Rooks, Zane Rooks, Harley Farneum, and Victoria Lear; one great grandchild, Skilar Parkinson; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye Thomas (Donnie), of Waynesville, Helen Anderson (Warren), of Hortense, Lisa Cribbs (David), of Brunswick, GA., and Maybelle Hill (Thomas), of Waynesville.

Visitation will be held Friday evening (March 8, 2019) from 6-9PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday (March 9, 2019) at 1PM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Altman officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Allen Rooks, Eugene Rooks, Drake Smith, Thomas Lee, Jonathan Varnadore, and Frank Cribbs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Hill and Chad McDowell.

Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the Funeral Home by 12:30PM Saturday.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
