Paul Andrew Lewis

Paul Andrew Lewis, 86, of Hortense passed away early Friday morning (September 6, 2019) at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah after an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA his parents were Andrew Lewis and Rosa Pearle Joyner Lewis. He is also preceded in death by a son, Paul Kevin Lewis; and an infant sister, Harriet Virginia Lewis.

Mr. Paul retired as a welder and machinist at Brunswick Pulp & Paper Company, a retired pine tree farmer, and served in the United States Army as a Sergeant. He was a member of the 3rd Armored division “Spearhead” sharp shooters competition rifle team and was in shooting competition and toured Europe during his service years. Paul attended Philadelphia Wesleyan Sawgrass Church and was an avid saltwater fisherman and enjoyed many days on the water with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janice Herrin Lewis of Hortense; 3 children and their spouses, Karis & Marc Watson, Linda & Robert Wilson and Joe & Margaret Lewis all of Hortense; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher Watson of Hortense, Taylor & Hannah Watson of Hortense, John & Heather Lewis of Hickox, Karen & Juan Mendoza of Jacksonville, FL, and Madison Wilson of Hortense; 2 great grandchildren, Shyla Lewis and David Lewis both of Hickox; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (September 8, 2019) at 2PM at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Sheldon Rowell,Sr. Officiating.

Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Lewis, Christopher Watson, Taylor Watson, Robert Wilson, Marc Watson and Juan Mendoza.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
