Melanie "Dawn" Winn

Jesup- Melanie “Dawn” Winn, 59 of Jesup, passed away Wednesday (September 25, 2024) at Hospice of South Georgia in Jesup, following an extended illness.

Her parents were James Oscar Carter and Margie Delane Crews Corbin. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joseph “Joe” Winn, III, and her stepfather, Butch Corbin.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph “J.R.” Winn, Jr., of Jesup; her son, Jasper Winn; her daughter, Julie Winn; 5 grandchildren, Landon Winn, Reiner Winn, Tristen Herrin (Annie), Bella Williams and Jasmine Williams; great grandchild, Melanie Josephine Herrin; her brother and sister-in-law, James O. Carter, Jr. (Stephanie), of Nahunta; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Ann Carter (Bobby Strickland), of Hortense, Terri Lynn Carter (Austin Green), of Brunswick, Evelyn L. Wood (Jesse Horton), of Nahunta, and Carmen Marble (Ronald), of Hortense. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday (October 17, 2024) at 1PM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Kennedy officiating.
