To know Marsha/Nana, was to love her. Her infectious joy and empathetic nature guided her to being the best mother, Nana, wife, and nurse throughout her life. She led with a caring and giving heart, finding the good in everyone but being the first to put you in your place if needed. Her laugh was contagious, creating the most beautiful smile and laugh lines. Holding her hand or giving her a hug felt like coming home every time, providing such a sense of comfort and warmth.
Early mornings were spent in the quiet dew drinking her coffee on the porch with Wayne, watching for wildlife. Later you would hear soap operas on during the day while Nana was piddling away at a task in her chair. The way she lit up when you talked to her about them was so special, but you better do it during commercials. In the afternoon you could find her taking her siesta and cuddled up with a book she claimed she was going to finish before she fell asleep, and by evening she was ready for happy hour. On weekends, you can hear “go dawgs!” throughout the house and trash talk to anyone nearby. Reruns of wheel of fortune and jeopardy were kept on tv- getting excited when she got an answer right because she had seen the episode a hundred times. A blue recliner with a bucket of beans or peas always close by a tomato and mayo sandwich with a bag of plain lays chips, a word search in the magazine rack- all vivid images of home with Nana. There truly was no place like Nana's.
At weddings you could find her on the dance floor, specifically enjoying “Stacy’s Mom” as her anthem. In every aspect of her life, she loved those around her fiercely. She traveled thousands of miles over the years to visit grandchildren, attend graduations, celebrate weddings, and going wedding dress shopping- she never missed a single thing. Marsha lived her life to love those around her, and those around her loved her equally. She always found the light in every moment and was a beacon of hope for so many of us. Throughout everything, she provided endless support and love to everyone. Marsha always reminded us how proud she was, how much she loved each of us so dearly, and we are so endlessly proud of her.
She was as devoted to Wayne as he was and still is to her. Wayne always hung the moon to her, and he was truly her best friend. Their love is the kind they write stories about, being a guide to the younger generation on how to keep trying until you get it right. Nana took a piece of Wayne’s heart when she left this earth, and I know she’ll keep it safe until they meet again.
There aren’t enough words to express how truly loved, adored, and admired Marsha/Nana is by her family, friends, and really anyone she met. She will be missed dearly every day and we’re thankful for each day we were blessed to have her as ours. We are so grateful to have shared her wonderful life with all of you.
At this time, we won’t be holding a funeral or memorial services.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
