Lumby 'Jimmy' Durrance

Hortense- Lumby “Jimmy” Durrance, Sr., 76 of Hortense, passed away Thursday (January 17, 2019) at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Alma, GA., his parents were Lumby Durrance and Ollie Mae Thornton Durrance. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Farmer; his son, Douglas Strom; four sisters, Doris Parton, Dorothy Phillips, Gerry Branson, and Jeanell Branson.

Mr. Jimmy was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, and worked many years in Maintenance for the Glynn County Board of Education. He enjoyed raising animals, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his grandbabies.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Irene L. Durrance, of Hortense; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Lumby J. Durrance (Loren), of Waynesville, and Steven Strom (Molly), of Raleigh, NC; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, April R. Adams (Lee), of Hortense, and Ann Griner (Walter), of Hortense; 10 grandchildren, Emma Renee Adams, Christopher Lee Adams, Makayla Durrence, Lane Strom, Evelyn Strom, Tucker Strom, Joseph Durrance, Renee Proctor, Matthew Farmer, and Ashley Cooley; 2 great grandchildren, Dustin Proctor, and Deanna Proctor; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Terry Durrance (Barbara), of Atlanta, and Buddy Durrance, also of Atlanta; 7 sisters and a brother-in-law, Juanita Hall, of Brunswick, Carolyn Durrance, of Darien, Florence Googe, of Blackshear, Lovon Durrance, of South Carolina, Joann Stone, of Darien, Bonnie Wiggins (Randy), of Brunswick, and Wanda Dejournett, of Brunswick. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday (January 20, 2019) at 2PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. M.L. Ricks and Pastor Greg Delk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Ramah Cemetery in Pierce County.

Pallbearers will be Jim Durrance, Steven Strom, Matthew Farmer, Joseph Durrance, Walter Griner, and Richard Proctor.

Honorary pallbearer will be Dustin Proctor.

Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the Funeral Home by 130PM Sunday.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
