Linton Ardell Herrin

Nahunta-Linton Ardell Herrin., 87 of Nahunta passed away on Friday, March 6,2026, at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick after a brief illness.

Born in Nahunta, Ga to the late Norman Merrick Herrin and Mamie Louise Roberts Herrin. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Latrelle Lyons Herrin, a great grandchild Koe Kirby and sisters Edith Herrin Ham Highsmith, Marie Herrin Jacobs, and Juanita Herrin Hewett.

Linton was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Herrin retired after 38 ½ years from Georgia Pacific Pulp & Paper Mill of Brunswick GA. He was also a commissioner for Brantley County GA and was also a member of Sons of Confederacy. Linton managed maintenance for Rob Lewis Cemetery for many years. He loved farming, fishing, making cane syrup, listening to country music, watching Georgia Bulldog Football and riding the countryside and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter Rhonda Smith (Perry) of Hortense, two sons Brian Herrin (Darlene) of Nahunta and Shannon Herrin (Pamela) of Mount Ida, AR; eight grandchildren Brittany Prescott, Bryant Smith, Sam Smith, Raven Havens, Thomas Rowland, Jorgia Herrin, Cayden Herrin and Nala Herrin; five great grandchildren Ellery Prescott, Benton Prescott, Tripp Gentry, Chloe Smith and Carley Smith; a sister Mable Herrin Cook; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:00 am at Southside Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at the church officiated by Bro. Phillip Cochran.

Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery immediately following the service.

Pallbearers include Shannon Herrin, Brian Herrin, Seth Prescott, Victor Ham, Jason “Jabo” Lee, and Jerry Rewis.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
