Hortense – Leslie Allen “Buster” Baker, 72, of Hortense passed away Monday morning (March 24, 2025) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness.

Born in Marion, IN his parents were Robert Leon Baker and Virginia Elizabeth Holland Baker. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Baker; and a sister, Bonnie Lyn Baker.

Buster worked for Edwards Baking Company and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a jack of all trades who enjoyed staying busy, building things, working in his yards, fishing and watching football.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Ruth Pennington Baker of Hortense; a son and daughter-in-law, Tyrone Lee Baker (Marnie) of Ft. Wayne, IN; 6 grandchildren, Maryih, Haley, James, Isiah, Anthony and Aubrey; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman Baker (Bea) of Marion, IN and Kenneth Baker (Melinda) of Sparta, IN; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Madalyn Swain (Bill) and Elizabeth Adams all of Marion, IN; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday (August 9, 2025) at 10AM at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Bryan officiating.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
