Laverne Swearingen Jacobs

Ms. Laverne Swearingen Jacobs, 94 of Nahunta, GA., passed away Tuesday (March 13, 2018) peacefully surrounded by family at the home of her daughter in Jesup, GA.

Ms. Jacobs was born March 30, 1923 in Clinch County to the late Cuyler H. Swearingen and Josie Young Swearingen. A native of Clinch County Georgia, Ms. Jacobs resided most of her life in Nahunta, GA where she was a homemaker, a great loving mother and grandmother who was also known for her good home cooking. She loved the Lord and her family and was a member of Raybon Church of God of Prophecy.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lindsey “Peck” Jacobs; two daughters, Betty Jacobs Wilson & Helen Jacobs Wainright; five brothers, Jessie “Palmer” Swearingen, Homer Swearingen, Robert Swearingen, Walter Swearingen & C.H. Swearingen and two grandchildren, Phillip Prescott and Lisa Smith Crews.

Ms. Jacobs is survived by her children; two sons, Ronnie Jacobs (Mayor of Nahunta) and J.L (Gail) all of Nahunta; two daughters, Phyllis Jacobs May of Jesup, GA and Wanda Smith of Nahunta, GA; one sister Retha Petrausky of Monticello, FL; 7 grandchildren, Miranda May-Horne (husband Ashley) of Patterson, GA; Debbie Dean (Bruce), Robert Wilson (Linda), Joy Evans (Pat) all of Nahunta, Rita, Dezi, & Shay Wainright all of Raleigh, NC; 8 great grandchildren, Skye Lee, Jeannie Pittman (Rodney), Ellis Dean, Montana Crews, Kason Hayes, Kyler Hayes, Madison Wilson, and Brooke Evans; 3 great great grandchildren, Julianna Pittman, Ramsey Pittman, Angelina Pittman.

Visitation will be Saturday (March 17, 2018) at 1:00PM with funeral services following at 2:00PM at Frye Funeral Home Chapel in Nahunta with Rev. Bruce Dean, Rev. Rodney Pittman, and Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross.

Pallbearers will be Robert Wilson, Ashley Horne, Shay Wainright, Zach Robinson, Gene Solano, and Ronald Dykes.

Honorary pallbearers will by the Staff of Heartland Hospice, Ivalyn Willis, and Jebria Vail.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
