Hortense – Larry Eugene Harrell, Sr. of Hortense passed away Wednesday evening (January 13, 2021) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Jacksonville, FL his parents were James George Harrell and Martha Myers Brooks.
Larry was a truck driver and a jack of all trades. He was such a jokester who loved spending time with his family, singing, and watching the Braves play.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Harrell of Hortense; a son & daughter-in-law, Larry Harrell, Jr (Stephani) of Hortense; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie Batten (Rev. Michael) of Hortense and Kim Griffiths (Charles) of Cowpens, SC; 8 grandchildren, Christina Batten, Anna Batten, Ian Griffiths, Derek Griffiths, Marie Griffiths, Lillian Harrell, Elyse Harrell, and Travis Harrell; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, William D. Harrell, Sr. (Regina) Columbus, GA and James Harrell of GA; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Brenda Crosby (Barry) and Gwen Olvera all of Tulsa, OK; his favorite brother-in-law, Eugene Rewis of Lulaton; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
Visitation will be held Friday evening (January 15, 2021) from 6pm-8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon (January 16, 2021) at 2pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Batten officiating. Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Garrison, Ben Bach, Freddie King, Devin Jones, Lucky Roberson and Shannon Griffin.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
