Kenneth Michael Lee

March 24, 1949 — April 7, 2020

Kenneth Michael Lee , 71, from Nahunta GA, entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 7th, 2020 at his home after an extended illness. Born in Lake City Florida his parents were the late Willard and Jessie Mae Lee.

Ken retired as Captain of the Jacksonville Fire Dept. with 33 years of service, retired Master Sgt. in the Air Force Guard, former Chief of the Nahunta Volunteer Fire Dept., served as Brantley Co. Fire Coordinator, and a very devoted Husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Throughout his very extended illness, his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ never wavered. He fully trusted in the Lord until the very end. He was loved by many for his kind and gentle spirit. Ken had many nicknames… Kenny, Sweetheart, Big Bird, Mr. Safety and Captain, but most of all Paw-Paw. Ken loved playing jokes on everyone and one of his favorites was “how far do you think you’d be if I hadn’t of called you back?”. While Ken wasn’t known as an animal lover he was frequently seen surrounded by and caring for dogs, cats and horses. He loved the wonderful friendships he made through the horse world and the fact that horses made his wife very happy. He was up for anything that made her happy! Ken loved to travel. The more the better. In some way his illness opened up the doors to travel. He and Button traveled as much as they could for several years checking things off his “bucket list” as they went. He always joked he kept a spare toothbrush and change of underwear in the glove box, he was always ready to go! Through those travels they met some wonderful lifelong friends from all over the world, because if you knew Ken, you know he didn’t meet a stranger. Whatever Ken did he did big, but he was humble at the same time. One this is for sure, he touched many lives.

His biggest fans include his spoiled wife Button Lee; three children Michael (Nikki) Lee of Jacksonville FL, Mandi (Scott) Jones of Nahunta, and Bj (Ashley) Eskew of TN ; Seven grandchildren, Konner (Joe) Jones, Vaughn Lee, Ethan (Bob) Jones, Rosalind (Ozzie) Lee, Maci Jay (Buttercup) Jones, Benson Eskew, and Kynnlee Eskew ; A sister Shirley (Jack) Crews of Taylor, FL. and many aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews, cousins, his Brotherhood of Fireman, and many friends.
