Kenneth Andrew Batten

Hickox – Kenneth Andrew Batten, 72, of Hickox passed away Saturday afternoon (May 26, 2018) at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Hickox, GA his parents were Lee Andrew Batten and Ruby Pauline Blocker Batten. He is also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Andrew Batten, Jr.

Kenneth worked for CSX for 44 years and retired as a Terminal Mechanical Superintendent and was of the Baptist Faith. He along with other volunteers helped get the Brantley Co Rec. Department started because he loved all children. Kenneth coached many Brantley Co Rec. Teams and supported all Brantley Co sports. He was an avid fisherman, loved farming, gardening, traveling to see new things, and enjoyed meeting new people.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sharon Batten of Hickox; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Tina & Jimmy Thrift of Hickox, Lora & Scott Rowell of Hoboken, and Valerie & Dari Thomas of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Andrea McDowell (Travis), Jake Thrift, Caitlin Rowell, Jarrett Rowell, James Thomas, and Jason Thomas; 2 great grandchildren, Rylan McDowell and Rhett McDowell; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice & Rev. Hilton Morgan of Nahunta, Marilyn Lewis of Fernandina Beach, Celinda Inman of Jacksonville, and Sue & Mitch Hayes of Jacksonville; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Monday evening (May 28, 2018) from 6PM-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning (May 29, 2018) at 11am at the Chapel of Frye Funeral home with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jake Thrift, Jarrett Rowell, James Thomas, Jason Thomas, Travis McDowell, and Cole Lewis.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
