Nahunta – Evelyn Cox O’Neal, 77, of Nahunta passed away early Friday morning (September 29, 2023) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Born in Homerville, GA her parents were Willie Cox and Nancy Lee Herrin Cox. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie; and a sister, Lea Brannen.
Evelyn was a homemaker and loved taking special care of her grandchildren. She also loved fishing, reading, crocheting, embroidering, gardening and putting up vegetables.
Survivors include her husband, Larry O’Neal of Nahunta; a son and daughter-in-law, Norman O’Neal (Marissa) of Nahunta; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Denise Wilder (Ed) of Hortense, Carol Batten and Renee Griner (Jamie) all of Nahunta; 5 grandchildren, Gene Batten (Marion), Amber Scott (Jason), Jack Batten, Jax Griner and A.J. Griner; 4 great grandchildren, Gavin Batten, Dawson Batten, Masey Lawrence and Malakai Scott; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday morning (October 2, 2023) starting at 9am at New Hope Cemetery.
A graveside service will be held Monday morning (October 2, 2023) at 10am at New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Jason Marden, Rev. Chuck Allen and Rev. Marvin Booth officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Griner, Norman O’Neal, Billy Nichols, Chad Maxwell, Gene Batten and Gavin Batten. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Bayview Nursing Home, Tim McGrew, Robert J. Blanchette, Sr, Robert J. Blanchette, Jr. and Ed Wilder.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
