Joseph "Joe" Merrick Jacobs

Brunswick – Joseph “Joe” Merrick Jacobs, 53, of Brunswick passed away Wednesday afternoon (March 15, 2023) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness.

Born in Jesup, GA his parents were Rev. Joseph Frankland “Frank” and Evelyn Marie Herrin Jacobs. He is also preceded in death by 2 of his fur babies, Dot Dog and Itzy.

Joe was a CAD draftsmen and loved fishing, making fishing lures, sketching, painting, junking and working in the yard with his flowers. 

Survivors include his wife, Danette Jacobs of Brunswick; his 4 fur babies, Bitzy “Boogie”, Chelsea, Rue “Ruby” and Bruno; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law ,Pam Wilson (Wint) of Raybon and Joyce Strickland (Gary) of Hortense; father and mother-in-law, Hubert & Glenda Lane of Hortense; 2 brothers-in-law, Dean Lane and Joe Lane (Peggy) all of Hortense; 2 sisters-in-law, Renee Chaney (Joey) of Jesup and Rhonda Moody (Keith) of Hortense; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening ( March 18, 2023) from 6pm – 8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

The family will have a private burial at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
