Joseph Mercer Harris, Sr.

Brunswick – Joseph Mercer Harris, Sr., 69 , of Brunswick passed away early Saturday morning (February 10, 2024) at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, GA his parents were Donald Parell Harris, Sr. and Madelyn Durden Harris. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Danny Harris and Shelby Harris; and 2 sisters, Betty Cook and Evelyn “Peachy” Johnson.

Joseph was a parts man for Butler Supply and was a parts man and manager for the Ford Company for almost thirty years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who always put his wife and children first. Joseph loved all of his dogs and everyone else’s dogs and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Harris of Brunswick; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Mercer Harris, Jr. (Christy) and Jason Michael Harris all of Brunswick; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Buffy Marie Lanasa (Steven) of Waynesville and Sarah Dru Dean of Alabama; 10 grandchildren, Mariah Baisden, Bailey Mae Harris, Dylan Browning, Alexis Browning, Jacob Browning, Lilyanna Dean, Matthew Dean, Hayden Browning, Illian Dean and Rylie Harris; 2 great grandchildren, Vanessa Baisden and Violet Baisden; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald Parell Harris, Jr. (Helen) of Brunswick; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Sheila Parker (Johnny) of Darien and Marie Harris of N. Augusta, SC; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday morning (February 17, 2024) at 11am at Darien Church of God.
