In Loving Memory of Jimmy Dean Corbitt Sr.
April 1, 1961 – August 29, 2026
Jimmy Dean Corbitt Sr., age 65, passed away peacefully at his home on August 29, 2026. Through the years his brother, Julian E. Corbitt, was his devoted caregiver. Julian stood by Jimmy with love, patience, and unwavering support, providing comfort and companionship throughout his final days. His dedication and care reflected the deep bond between the brothers, and Jimmy was blessed to have him by his side.
Jimmy was a hardworking man who took pride in his work as a mechanic and carpenter. He was dependable, hardworking, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Jimmy was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin E. Corbitt, Geraldine Edwards, and Revis Edwards; brother, Richard Ashby; his nephew, Jaimie Carmichael; and his sister-in-law, Kay Edwards.
Jimmy leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his son, Jimmy Corbitt Jr.; and his daughters, Amanda Cox (Bryan), Shannon Ward (Justin), and Kimberly Barfield (Josh).
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Georgia Corbitt and Alayna Corbitt; Amanda’s children, Hunter, Destin, and Zoey; Shannon’s children, Tristian, Kami, Remi, and Henley; and Kimberly’s children, Bella, Kallie, Able, Ansley, Easton, Joshua, Emily, and Dawson.
Jimmy is also survived by his brothers, sisters, and their families: Julian E. Corbitt and Sandra; Brenda Chancey and Bill; Bobbie Carmichael and Allen; James Edwards; Shirley Thornton and Ted; Randy Edwards and Judy; J.W. Edwards and Lynn; and Rosa DuBose and Darrell.
Jimmy will also be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews, as well as his remaining aunt and uncle, extended family, and countless friends who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Jimmy’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. Although he may no longer walk beside us, the love he gave, the lessons he shared, and the memories he created will remain with his family and friends forever. His life was a gift, his presence was a blessing, and his memory will be treasured for generations to come.
May he rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord, knowing that he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced by the family.
Forever loved.
Forever missed.
Forever remembered.
