Jerry Derwood Parker

Folkston – Mr. Jerry Derwood Parker, 65, passed away Sunday morning (November 15, 2020) at St. Vincent’s Riverside in Jacksonville, Fl. following an extended illness.

Born in Folkston, GA his parents were Willie Johns and Mildred McInvale Johns.

Jerry worked at St. Regis Papermill wood division as an equipment operator before becoming disabled and was a member of Riverside Chapel Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, he never met a stranger, he loved tinkering with machinery, and being confined in the wheelchair never held Jerry back from doing the things he enjoyed doing.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Debbie Nettles Parker of Folkston; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Amy Martin (Jeffrey) of Louisiana, and Brandi McCauley (Slade) of Folkston; 2 grandchildren, Maddison Manning, and Kailyn Manning; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, John Willie Johns (Ginger) of Hortense, Jeffrey Johns (Darlene) of Folkston; 1 sister, Dorothy Bean of Jacksonville, Fl.; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. And a host of friends.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family asked that you follow the rules for social distancing. Also, if anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services, the family understands and ask that you to be in prayer for our loved ones.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (November 18, 2020) from 6-8PM at Riverside Chapel Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held Thursday morning (November 19, 2020) at 11 AM at Corinth cemetery with Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. Jamie Giddens.

Pallbearers will be Ben Herick, Charlie Lowther, Ricky Mobley, Wayne Johns, Scott Johns, Juke Johns, and Robert Johns.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Bean Johns, Ricky Heartsfield, James Keen, Terry Lee, Charles O’Quinn and Keith McInvale.
