Nahunta

Nahunta – James “Jimmy” William Wood, 60, of Nahunta passed away Thursday evening (October 3, 2024) at his residence after a brief illness.

Born in Toms River, NJ his parents were James Hope Wood and Loretta Ann Burg Johnson. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Florie McCullough; an uncle, Ed West; and cousins, Liz Steffy and Eddie West.

Jimmy was a retired truck driver for Marten Transport and a member of Nahunta Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, had a very active imagination, enjoyed watching movies (especially Star Trac or anything science fiction) and was fascinated with outer space.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Wood of Nahunta; a brother & sister-in-law, David Wood (Cherry) of GA; 2 sisters, Alison Wood Page of Waynesville and Faith Wood of Missouri; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon (October 12, 2024) from 2pm – 3pm at Nahunta Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon (October 12, 2024) at 3pm at Nahunta Methodist Church with Rev. David Farrior officiating.

Arrangement are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
