Hoboken- James Michael “Mike” Mercier, 70 of Hoboken, passed away Saturday (March 29, 2025) at Satilla Hospice House in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born in Nahunta, GA., his parents were James William Mercier and Cordie Pauline Baker Mercier. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Paula Kay Mercier.
Mike served his community for 45 years as a Deputy with the Brantley County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Williams Mercier; his son and daughter-in-law, Bubba Mercier (Christy); his daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Mercier Crosby (Bengi), all of Hoboken; four grandchildren, Colt Crosby (Olivia), Aden Crosby (Jinsey), Grant Crosby and Cole Mercier; one great grandchild, Grayson Westhafer and one on the way; one brother, Charles Raggland, of Dahlonega, GA; and one niece and her spouse, Sherri McCormick (Tommy), of Boyce, LA. Also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (April 1, 2025) from 6PM-8PM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday (April 2, 2025) at 10:30AM at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ray McMillan and Rev. Steve Beal officiating.
Burial will follow in Hoboken City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Colt Crosby, Aden Crosby, Grant Crosby, Cole Mercier, Bubba Mercier, and Bengi Crosby.
