James Crews

Nahunta – James Crews, 77, of Nahunta passed away Thursday (May 29, 2025) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born in Nahunta, GA. his parents were Charlie Crews and Laura Willis Crews. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Crews; and also several siblings.

James was a boilermaker and a member of Nahunta Church of God. He loved fishing, hunting, farming, building things and going out to eat but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Reba Highsmith Crews; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Harry Crews, Jamie Crews (Kimberly) all of Nahunta; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Crews (Kristin), Carter Crews, Peyton Crews, Paisley Crews, and Brooke Diaz; 1 great grandchild, Monty Crews; 1 brother, Burnice Crews of Hoboken; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday (May 31, 2025) starting 3PM at Frye Funeral Home.

A Funeral service will be held Saturday (May 31, 2025) at 4PM at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Florey officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harry Crews, Jamie Crews, Tyler Crews, Carter Crews, Peyton Crews, Jeff Highsmith, and Bradley Lake.

Honorary pallbearers will be Boilermakers.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
