Brunswick – James Hamilton Hunter, 77, of Brunswick passed away Wednesday evening (March 24, 2021) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Born in Waynesville, GA his parents were H.H. “Bud” Hunter and Lucy Gibson Hunter. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Walter Bladen.
James was retired from Glynn County Public Works as a heavy equipment operator and served in the United States Army. He was a member of Bay Harbour Church of God in Brunswick where he was an Usher for many years and the Nahunta Masonic Lodge #301. James enjoyed delivering meals to the shut ins, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Vivian Hunter of Brunswick; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Tami & Steve Phillips of Bear, Delaware and Tabitha Daniels of Brunswick; 4 grandchildren, Madison Phillips and Rhys Phillips both of Bear, Delaware and Mollie Daniels and Hunter Daniels both of Brunswick; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask, are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
Visitation will be held Friday evening (March 26, 2021) from 6pm-8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon (March 27, 2021) at 2pm at Bay Harbour Church of God in Brunswick with Rev. John Harris and Rev. Rickey Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Highsmith Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Schueler, Johnny Strickland, Johnny Cook, Paul Hall, Kevin Head, Rev. Tom Maddox, Scott Manning and Mike Manning. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nahunta Masonic Lodge #391, Wetzel Head, Michael Holton, Don L. Smith, Eddie Hunter, Rev. Rickey Harris, Rhys Phillips, Steve Phillips and Aaron Howard.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
