Iva Mildred Bell Harris

Nahunta – Iva Mildred Bell Harris, 94, of Nahunta passed away Thursday afternoon (October 15, 2026) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Born in Hoboken, GA her parents were Leon Leonard Bell and Edna Griffin Bell. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ebben Harris; a brother, Mitchell Bell; and 4 sisters, Alice Hale, Vallie Haywood, Edith Jones and Lavada Aldridge.

Iva was a homemaker and a member of Nahunta Methodist Church. For years she also worked for the Brantley County Tax Assessors but her most joyful job was when she was a bailiff for the Brantley County Courthouse. for She loved her family dearly and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, doing crafts and growing flowers.

Survivors include 3 sons and daughters-in-law, James Harris (Lynn) of Lawrenceville, Andy Harris (Ruth) and Leonard Harris all of Hickox; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Debra Harris of Brunswick and Edna Lane (Loren) of Hoboken; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening (October 18, 2029) from 5pm -7pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Monday (October 19, 2026) at 2pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Dirst and Rev. David Farrior officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Harris, Drew Harris, Devin Harris, Noah Restrepo, David Benjamin, Josh Harris, Jared Harris and Jason Harris.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
