Herschel Lindburg Cox

Woodbine-Mr. Herschel Lindburg Cox,85, passed away early Friday morning (July12,2019) at The Hospice of The Golden Isles after an extended illness.

Born in Woodbine, Georgia he was the son of Gordon and Vera Miller Cox. Also preceded by a brother Edward Cox, and his sister Marie Bragg.

Mr. Cox was retired from CSX Railroad where he was Supervisor of Metal Bridges. He was a Deacon for 48 years at Forrest View Baptist Church in Woodbine, where he also was Song Leader and Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Herschel also, enjoyed working in his garden, playing softball and was a hunter & fisherman.

Survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Cox, of Woodbine, a son and daughter-in-law, Troy Dennis and Debbie Cox, also of Woodbine, Brother and sister-in-law, Calvin Cox, Sr. and Deanna, of White Oak, GA., his sister, Levieda Jowers, of Waynesville, 5-Grandchildren, Lana Denise Batick (Brett), of N.Y., Lisa Ann Brice (Willis), of Cocoa Beach, FL., Brian Cleveland, of Woodbine, Christopher Cleveland (Witney), of Kingsland and Amy Leigh Cox, of Woodbine. 7-Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Herschel L. Cox will be held Saturday morning (July 20, 2019) at 11 AM at The Forrest View Baptist Church in Woodbine, 812 Billyville Rd., with Dr. Jody Davis, Rev. Paul Roberson, and Rev. John Floyd officiating.

Visitation will be at the church Saturday (July 20, 2019) from 9:30 am till service time at 11am.

Interment will follow in The Colesburg Cemetery in Woodbine.

Pallbearers will be James Roberson, Calvin Cox, Jr., Willis Brice, Jack Howard, Brian Cleveland, Christopher Cleveland, Clifton Roberson, and Matthew Dowling.

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church by 10:30am

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
