Gary Edward Steigert

Nahunta – Gary Edward Steigert, 79, of Nahunta passed away Friday (April 18, 2025) at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, his parents were Chauncey Steigert and Barbara Elsworth Steigert. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Janet; and a brother, Robert.

Gary was a hard-working man who poured his energy into running his salvage yard. He had a sharp mind and a love for gambling-especially when it came to a good game of Black Jack. Those who knew him will remember his strong will, dry humor, and his unfiltered, honest nature that never failed to leave a lasting impression.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Steigert of Nahunta; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Drew Lawton, Jr. (Angela) of Waverly and Timothy James Lawton (Vicki) of Ravenna, MI; his grandchildren, Kaitlin Hobson (Benjamin), Olivia Lawton and his heavenly grandson, Timothy Lawton who was there to greet him; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

There will be no services at this time.
