Florrie Wainright

Florrie R. Wainright, 91, of Nahunta passed away Thursday morning (October 14, 2021) at Baptist Village in Waycross, GA. following an extended illness.
She was born in Charlton Co., Winokur, GA. Her parents were Jesse Olin Wainright and Allie Thrift Wainright. Also she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse Calvin Wainright, Ernest Matthew Wainright, and Joseph Deleon Wainright; one sister, Mary Theo Wainwright. Miss Wainright grew up in Brantley County. She graduated from Brantley County High School. Her childhood was demanding but fair. She and her siblings worked in fields along with their parents. Paternal grandparents lived near and were very meaningful in Florrie’s life.
Florrie learned right from wrong at home. (Sadly she never knew her maternal grandparents.) As a young adult she lived and worked in Jacksonville, Fl. in a bank for eight years. She moved from home and worked at Okefenokee REMC for several years. She later lived in Gainesville, Fl. and retired from University of Florida in financing and accounting and then she moved back home.
Florrie was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She was a sister, friend, mentor, aunt, and cousin. She was also a peacemaker – In Jesus’ own words “they should be called the children of God (Matthew 5:9) Florrie also enjoyed reading and writing poems.
Survivors are one brother, John Wilbur Wainright and wife Glenda; one sister, Dorothy Wainright Justice all of Nahunta. Also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be held Saturday morning (October 16, 2021) at 11 AM at the Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.
Visitation will be held at the church 1 hour prior starting at 10-11AM.
Interment will be in the Bethlehem cemetery.
Pallbearers are William Wainright, Adam O’Berry, Roger Justice, Rodney Justice, Randall Howard, and Steven Howard.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
