Evelyn Carr Strayer

Waynesville – Evelyn Carr Strayer, 81, of Waynesville passed away early Thursday morning (August 5, 2021) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross after a brief illness.
Born in Brunswick, GA her parents were Rupert Atkinson Carr and Nova Ellen Estes Carr. She is also preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Strayer; a sister, Angela Highsmith; and a brother, Charles Carr.
Evelyn was a homemaker who loved cooking, baking, crocheting, coloring with numbers and doing word searches.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa & Philip Decker of Waynesville; a son and daughter-in-law, George Edward & Tina Strayer, II of Waynesville; 4 grandchildren, Charlie Beverly of Brunswick, Christopher Warren, Samantha Newton (Matt) and George Edward Strayer, III all of Waynesville; 10 great grandchildren; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon (August 7, 2021) at 2pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.
