Brunswick – Elton Hansford Dowling, 75, of Brunswick passed away Thursday afternoon (February 18, 2021) at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Born in Hoboken, GA his parents were the late Lewis Elvie Dowling and Mattie Luree Aldridge Dowling. He is also preceded in death by a son, Keith Elton Dowling; brother, Virgil Dowling; a sister, Mettie Dowling Bullard; and a sister-in-law, Carol Dowling. And the mother of his children, Elizabeth Clune Dowling.
Elton retired from Georgia Pacific as an electrician after 4 decades, served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Glynn Academy. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Samesa & Scott Teston of Jesup; 7 grandchildren, Jaime Rowell, Jordan Jones, Elainie Dowling, Alexis Dowling, Scotty Teston, Chaz Dowling, and Keith Dowling; several great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dewayne Dowling of Brunswick and Troy Dowling of Nahunta; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda & Sam Strickland of Waverly and Mary Lou & Terry Sanchez of Tampa, FL; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon (February 21, 2021) at 2pm at High Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service on Sunday at the cemetery starting at 1:30pm.
Pallbearers will be Terry Dowling, David Dowling, Paul Sanchez, Scotty Teston, Michael Holton and Jaime Rowell.
Arrangement are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
