Edwena Jones Dinkins

Hickox – Edwena Jones Dinkins, 72, of Hickox passed away Tuesday afternoon (February 12, 2019) at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Douglas, GA her parents were Arthur Benjamin Jones, Sr. and Stella Mae Davis Jones. She is also preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, James W. Dinkins, Jr., Dylan Kyle Dinkins, and Anthony Joseph Dinkins; a half brother, S.R. Davis; 2 sisters, Patsy Strausser and Laverlia Smith.

Edwena was a mechanical pipe insulator and welder for B & W Pipefitters and a member of Southside Baptist Church. She loved fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, sewing, and collecting ceramic baby dolls, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jimmy Dinkins of Hickox; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James W. Dinkins (Daphne), Joseph Arthur Dinkins, and a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Dinkins all of Hickox; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur Jones (Aundria) of Waycross; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Edna Jo Bryson (Clyde) of Waycross and Melody Westberry of Blackshear; and a brother-in-law, Roy Strausser, of Yulee; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday morning (February 15, 2019) from 11am – 12pm at Southside Baptist Church in Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon (February 15, 2019) at 12PM at Southside Baptist Church in Nahunta with Rev. Jerry Johns officiating. Burial will follow in Waters Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tyrone Thomas, Jimmy Miller, Jimmy Dinkins, Kevin Dinkins, Thomas Dinkins, James Cox, Darrell Harrison, and Allen Gibson.

Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the church Friday by 11:30AM.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
