Dorothy Mary Johnson

Waynesville – Dorothy Mary Johnson, 94, of Waynesville passed away Friday morning (December 29, 2023) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.

Born in Waverly, GA her parents were Daniel Brockington and Beatrice Elmo Daniels Brockington. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Elbrey Johnson; daughter, Janice Debra Lain; 2 grandchildren, Joshua Lain and Aress Johnson; 2 sons-in-law, Gary Glen Lain and Joseph Conrad Jenkins; and a sister, Nadine Daniels.

Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Horsestamp United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, reading and cooking.

Survivors include her daughter, Gwendolyn Elsie Jenkins of Hawthorne, FL; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul Elbrey Johnson (fiancé Jacque Moore) and Michael Joseph Johnson (Delores Jean) all of Waynesville; 11 grandchildren, Debra Mallory (fiancé Darin Addis), Andrew Jenkins (Leanna), Shawn Johnson (Karen), Jesse Lain, Nikki Smith (Matt), Melissa Oliver (Lyndon), Michelle Pullido (Sam), Spencer Lain (Samantha), Dakota Lain, Deeana Johnson and Melinda Smith (Jason); 19 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Daniels of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening (January 3, 2024) from 6pm – 8pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Thursday morning (January 4, 2024) at 11am at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Goode and Rev. David Inman officiating.  Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Jenkins, Shawn Johnson, Daniel Fletcher, Coty Fletcher, Jesse Lain, and Spencer Lain.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Johnson and Joshua Johnson.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
