Dorothea Peake Roquemore, 102, of Hoboken passed away Monday morning, November 24, 2025, at her residence after an extended period in Hospice Care. She was born in Harrison, Arkansas to the late Leonard Otis and Jennie Leutisa Parker Peake. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Julius C. Williams and Ralph Albert Roquemore; son, Paul Williams, Sr.; grandson, Josh Williams.
Mrs. Roquemore was a member of Remnant Church where she taught a Bible Study until she was 96 years old. She always loved to volunteer in churches and was a homemaker. As a young woman who loved the Lord with all her heart and wanted to serve Him with her life and be used by Him. She attended and graduated from Bible School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1944. This school she attended had started in 1935 in New Brockton, Alabama and later relocated to Lakeland, Florida where it became known as Southeastern University. Her first ministry city was Lumber City, Georgia. She was a licensed minister and although she originally wanted to be a missionary to India, she married in 1948 and for the next 32 years her ministry became her husband and 5 children. When Julius, her first husband died in Jan.1980, she was single for 6 years and spent a great portion of that time volunteering and serving in an inner city church, Spirit of Life Church in Jacksonville, Florida where she met and married her second husband Ralph Roquemore and they were married for 31 years until he died in Hoboken, Georgia. She and Ralph moved to Hoboken, Georgia in November 2009 where she believed God had a divine purpose for moving them to Brantley County where at 87 years old in December 2010 she began teaching a weekly Bible Study every Thursday morning at Walking In The Light Christian Bookstore for 5 1/2 years. She also spoke in several churches, Empowerment Conferences, Women's Aglow and went to Tebeau Retirement Home and ministered to the men and women there every two weeks. She lived a full and rewarding life serving the Lord, her family and others. She felt she had found and fulfilled her assignment and purpose when they moved to Brantley County. Dorothea ( Mother Roquemore ) served the Lord faithfully for 88 years from the time that she surrendered her life to Jesus at age 14.The Bible tells us that the older women are to give good counsel and be teachers of what is right and noble, wisely training the younger women ( Titus 2:3 - 4 ). Mother Roquemore fulfilled this.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Williams (Martha) of Hoboken, and Michael Williams (Debbie) of Baldwin, FL; two daughters, Melody Grace Goddard of Jacksonville, FL, and Joy Elaine Templeman (Louie) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law, Cathy Williams of Hoboken; seven grandchildren, Mark Williams, Jr., Chris Williams Sr., John-Michael Williams (Brandy), Paul Williams Jr ( Macy ), David Williams (Mary), Daniel Williams, and Deborah Walker (Chris) , 13 Great-Grandchildren; Madison, Chris Jr, Brianna, Jamielynn, Brooklynn, Alanna, River, Julie, Natalie, Willow, Brady, Luka, & Lilly, three brothers, David Peake of Hot Springs, Ark, Fred Peake (Patsy) of Jacksonville, FL, and John Peake (Bonnie) of Kathleen, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 11 am until 12 pm at Remnant Church in Waycross.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 12 pm at Remnant Church in Waycross. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Hickox.
