Waynesville – Delores Foster Hughes, 80 of Waynesville passed away Tuesday evening (August 15, 2023) at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Jackson, MI her parents were James I. Foster and Jerrine Phyllis Hendges Foster. She is also preceded in death by several siblings.

Delores a secretary for the Brunswick News and the best mother and grandmother her family could ask for. She loved plants, flowers, pin wheels, was a very crafty lady and an excellent seamstress. Delores was also a historian of St. Simons Island and the Golden Isles.

Survivors include her 2 sons and a son-in-law, David Hughes (Sam) of Demorest, GA and William “Pat” Hughes of Waynesville; 5 daughters and sons-in-law, Michele Hughes of Waynesville, Pam Hughes of Waynesville, Gail Stone (Gary) of Bethlehem, GA, Robin Zeigler (Jimmy) of Waynesville and Sarah Tyler (Brian) of Brunswick; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Anderson, Rebecca Fawcett, Jeffrey Zeigler, Joshua Stone, Jessica Stone, Gary Lee Stone, Shelby Moore, Alex Brock, Casey Farmun, Samantha Hughes, Sarah Hughes and Destiny Farmun; several great grandchildren; 4 sister and brothers-in-law, Phyllis Foster of Waynesville, Linda Scott (David), Jeanie Riemers (Tim) and Tina Lewis all of Jackson, MI; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

There will be no services at this time.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
