David Lee Mallard

Hortense-David Lee Mallard, 60, of Hortense passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, after an extended illness.

David was born in Brunswick, Ga to the late Lee Roy Mallard and Marjorie Ann Daffron Mallard. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan who enjoyed college football, racing and fishing.

He leaves behind a son Dustin Mallard (Marah) of Nahunta; a daughter Tiffany Sumner (Leslie) of Blackshear; a brother Jeff Mallard (Pam) of Waynesville; a sister LeAnn Flax (Sparke); four grandchildren Eleanor Sumner, Ellison Mallard, Shep Sumner and Charlee Mallard; his former spouse and mother of his children, Kim Mallard of Blythe Island, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Frye Funeral Home.

The family will hold a private burial at a later date.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
