Cheryl Kay Wainright

June 29, 1955 — January 14, 2021

Waynesville – Cheryl Kay Ammons Wainright, 65, of Waynesville passed away Thursday afternoon (January 14, 2021) at her residence after a brief illness.

Born in Tampa, FL her parents were Raymond Linker Ammons and Golda Pearl Riggins Ammons. She is also preceded in death by her son, Michael “Mac” Perry Wainright, Jr.

Cheryl was a landscaper and of the Baptist faith. She loved spending time with her grandchildren & family, cooking and going fishing.

Survivors include her 2 grandchildren, Michael Miller and Kambree Carter; 7 sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Gibson (John) of Waynesville, Pat Hickox of Nahunta, Carolyn Drawdy (Gene) of Waynesville, Robin Wheeler (Don) of Waynesville, Rita Howard of Waynesville, Susie Wilson (Harley) of Folkston, and Monica Allen (William) of Hillard, FL; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky Ammons (Mary) and Jamie Ammons (Maybelle) all of Waynesville; also several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Due to the COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing and face mask are highly recommended at the service. Also, anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the services the family would like for you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

A graveside service will be held Sunday afternoon (January 17, 2021) at 2PM at Knox Cemetery with Rev. Emory Wilson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Edward Ammons, Preston Chanclor, Jason Highsmith, Gene Wilson, Jason Ammons, Michael Miller, Roger Moore, and Nat Stone.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
