Waynesville – Charles Leon Stokes, 75, of Waynesville passed away early Saturday (January 1, 2022) at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Brunswick, GA his parents were George Frank Stokes and Barbara Elizabeth Blount Stokes. He is also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Elizabeth Justice and Patricia Scarboro.
Charles was the owner and a welder for Stokes Welding and Machine Shop and a member of Little Memorial Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family, racing and working.
Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Chuck and Vikki Stokes and Frank Stokes all of Waynesville; 2 daughters, Kimberly Stone (Steve Walker) of Waynesville and Charlanne Turlington of Fernandina Beach, FL; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Rob Stokes of Waynesville; mother of his children, Becky Ann Stokes; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service Tuesday afternoon (January 4, 2022) starting at 1:30pm at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday afternoon (January 4, 2022) at 2pm at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Keith Brown officiating.
Pallbearers will be JO Nobles, Larry Barnes, Jerry Mauney, Elton Hodges, Andy Stillwagon and Mickey Carnes.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
