Charles Dowling

Nahunta-C.M. Dowling, 89 of Nahunta, died Friday morning (April 27, 2012) at Bayview Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born in Hoboken, GA, his parents were Charles M. and Minnie Johnson Dowling. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Margret A. Dowling, and his second wife, Ruby Perry Dowling; 8 siblings, Merele Dowling, Creola Gribble, Vassie Thomas, Jeanette Bell Rogers, Doyle Dowling, Audy Dowling, Burnel Luke, and Marlon Dowling. Charlie was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church, and was employed with Westing House as an elevator and escalator installer. Charlie was in the CCC Corp., a merchant marine, retired in his home town, Brantley County. He loved to fish, hunt, and garden. Survivors include a son, Shawn Patrick Dowling, of Columbia, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Mary and Howard Grimes, of Leominster, MA;a brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Lucy Dowling, of Alma, GA; and 3 grandchildren, Michael Ann Dancause, Alyssa Dancause, Mallory Anderson. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening (May 1, 2012) from 6PM-8PM, at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta. A Graveside service will be held Wednesday afternoon (May 2, 2012) at 3PM, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Johns officiating. Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
