Chad Wesley Murphy

Hortense – Chad Wesley Murphy, 35, of Hortense passed away Thursday (July 23, 2026) at his residence.

Born in Douglas, GA his parents are Stephen Murphy and Dianna Taylor Murphy of Hortense. He is preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Jennifer Ramierez Murphy and a brother, Casey Reaves.

Chad worked in landscaping and enjoyed fishing and racing. As a child, he raced go carts and raced at the Golden Isles Speedway in his teen years.

Survivors include his 3 children, Melanie Murphy, Madison Murphy and Kylan Murphy all of Hortense; his parents, Stephen & Dianna Murphy of Hortense; 2 sisters, Shannon Ribron of Alma and Shellie Reaves of Brunswick; a brother, Cameron Reaves of Hortense; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday (July 31, 2026) starting at 1pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon (July 31, 2026) at 2pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Gill officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cameron Reaves, Travis Collins, Justin Hilliard, Allen Sikes, Dylan Steedley and Anthony Workman.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
