Carol Ann Mcdowell

January 18, 1947 — April 28, 2021

Hortense – Carol Ann Young McDowell, 74, of Hortense passed away early Wednesday (April 28, 2021) at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Ashburn, GA her parents were Gresham Young and Willie Mae Wright Young. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Shelton McDowell; a son, Bobby Mitchell Bannister, Jr.; 4 brothers, Horace Young, Henry Young, Arvin Young, Freddie Young; and 2 sisters, Mary Ward and Barbara Jones.

Carol was a homemaker and a member of Lulaton Baptist Church. She was a very vibrant person who was a mama to everyone and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandkids and loved her animals.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, David Edward Davis (Beth) and Robert A. Davis (Kathy) all of Waynesville; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry Ann Perrish (Pete) of Carrolton, KY, Tara Davis of Hortense, Melissa Tiner (Chad) of Wayesville, and Tina Davis of Blackshear; 21 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma Bagley (Jeff) of Waynesville, Joyce Stephens (Glynn) of Jesup and Gail Warner (Roy) of Hortense; her best friends, Linda O’Hara and Brenda Roberson both of Waynesville; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Due to COVID-19, we would like to ask all to please follow the rules for social distancing, also face mask are highly recommended at the service. Anyone who does not feel comfortable with attending the service the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.

Visitation will be held Friday morning (April 30, 2021) from 10:30am to 11:00am at Palmetto Cemetery in Atkinson.

A graveside service will be held Friday morning (April 30, 2021) at 11am at Palmetto Cemetery in Atkinson with Pastor Robert Davis officiating.

Pallbearers will be William Lewis, Soloman Peacock, Harley Davis, Remington Hite, Dakoda Davis, Ryan Davis and Zachary Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Franklin Warner, Joshua Spradley, Blake Turner, Dayton Taylor and River Hite.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
