Betty Lou Crews Davis

Hortense – Betty Lou Crews Davis, 89, of Hortense passed away Tuesday morning (November 8, 2022) at her residence after an extended illness.

Born in Hoboken, GA her parents were Irvin Crews and Lila Walker Crews. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Davis; a son, Steve Dykes; 2 stepdaughters, Brenda Holcombe and Vickie Hendricks; a grandson, Seth Proctor; her twin sister, Billie Sue Crews; 2 sisters, Virginia Brady and Margaret Thomas; and 2 brothers, James Crews and Eugene Crews.

Betty was an office manager for BTC for 43 years and a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church. She loved traveling with her late husband, Lee Davis, hunting, fishing, singing and playing the piano.

Survivors include her 4 sons and daughters-in-law, James Cary Dykes of Hortense, Bruce Roger Dykes (Serena) of Brunswick, Joseph Allen Dykes of Hortense and Walter Eugene Dykes (Tina) of Hortense; 2 stepson, David Davis and Darryl “Hank” Davis (Jonie) all of Hortense; a step daughter, Sharon Smith of AL; 20 grandchildren, Benjamin Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Justin Dykes, Matthew Dykes, Clay Dykes, Kelly Vest, Chris Dykes, Dylan Dykes, Devin Dykes, Shane Kersey, Cheryl Smith, Tracy Lee, Jason White, Michael White, Tiffany Morgan, Larry “Possum” Corbitt, Ann Sauls, Bubba Burt, Holly Davis, and Trey Mobley; several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn Ellen Stewart of SC; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday morning (November 11, 2022) starting at 10am at Nahunta First Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held Friday morning (November 11, 2022) at 11am at Nahunta First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Carson and Chaplain Ron Kester officiating. Burial will follow in Pierce Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Dykes, Devin Dykes, Justin Dykes, Matthew Dykes, Gabe Dykes, and Griffin Adams.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
